Ella Mai and Jacquees beef has just shot up straight through the rooftop and his girlfriend is already defending him.
The “Boo’d Up” songstress is seemingly throwing shade at the Cash Money crooner. She sent out a cryptic tweet about an unnamed artist who performed her song during another artist’s concert.
“i’d be so embarrassed if someone brung me on stage and the only thing i could sing was someone else’s song because nobody knew my actual music. poor thing,” she tweeted.
While she didn’t mention names, it didn’t take long for fans to connect the dots and realise that she was talking about Jacquees. During Drake’s “Assassination Vacation Tour” at London’s O2 Arena on Tuesday night, Tory Lanez brought out Jacquees to perform his controversial remix to Ella’s “Trip” during his opening set.
Before even that could touch down, Jacquees girlfriend was already on offensive mode noting that first of, Jacquees did not even like performing that song and that he was only pressed on going on stage on it and that he just did what he was supposed to. See her tweet below.
Jacquees released his “Que-mix” to the song on YouTube and SoundCloud back in September. It became a fan favourite and racked up millions of streams before it was pulled due to a copyright claim from Ella’s label 10 Summers.
Mustard, who produced the song and owns 10 Summers, called out Jacquees for profiting off “Trip.” “When you monetise content you don’t own you are stealing and no one steals from 10 Summers,” he tweeted. “Ella had no say in the matter and any platform reporting any differently is spreading falsities.”
Speaking to Hot 97’s “Ebro in the Morning” in October, Ella denied that she was personally responsible for the song’s removal;
“I don’t play any role. My label made a statement… I don’t want people to think different than the actual situation is,” she said. “People don’t really know the real ins and outs of the industry.”
Despite the controversy, the self-proclaimed “King of R&B” claimed there was no love lost.
“It’s all love at the end of the day. I ain’t trippin’,” he told “The Breakfast Club” in December.
On today’s backlash Jacquees only send a tweet of himself wondering what was going on and he was the King of RnB. In addition he noted that him and Dj Mustard already cleared all that up.
“Me and Dj Mustard already cleared this up we plan on working we on the next page. I’m doing what I do. Much success to ya Ella Mai.”
