A man known as a “friendly neighbor” in Kings Mountain, North Carolina has been arrested and accused of keeping a young girl as a sex slave for years.

Anthony Nealy, 31, has been accused of regularly raping a girl younger than 12 over a five-year period. Somehow, he had been able to convince his North Carolina neighbors that he was a nice and trustworthy guy, and certainly not the keeper of a sex slave.

North Carolina cops picked up the alleged slave keeper, Anthony Nealy, 31, in his neighborhood on October 9.

He was accused of systematic rape of a girl younger than 12. Court records indicate that Nealy knew his victim and took the young child to different locations to rape her.

The sexual assaults allegedly began in January 2015. WJZY spoke with a neighbor of the North Carolina slave keeper.

The neighbor told the North Carolina news outlet that the man who was just busted for allegedly keeping a child sex slave was “easygoing,” and a likeable man.

According to the Winston-Salem Journal, the man and the girl knew one another. In court, Nealy appeared via video. Nealy asked the Cleveland County District Court Judge Meredith Shuford for a reduction in his bond.

But before the North Carolina man could even finish his sentence, the judge disabused him of the notion that he’d get a bond reduction.

So Nealy will remain in jail.

The North Carolina court has charged the man who allegedly kept his neighbor as a sex slave with sexual servitude with a child victim, child abuse including a sexual act, rape of a child by an adult, statutory sex offense with a child by an adult, and human trafficking with a child victim, the Richmond Times-Dispatch reports.

He is in Cleveland County Jail on a $500,000 bond.

The resident of Nealy’s who spoke with WJZY told the North Carolina news outlet that the man seemed so friendly, you know what I’m saying. He helped my fiancé mow grass; he’d help him weed eat around the yard.”

Chillingly, one woman who lived in the same neighborhood reported that she often saw Nealy walk with the girl he allegedly brutalized as she made her way down the road toward her school.

“They’ve got toys outside and everything in the backyard. They’ve got bikes and all kinds of stuff out there, but you don’t never see them come outside any day of the week,” this woman said.

Witnesses report that when they came to arrest him, North Carolina cops got no major resistance from the man.
