People from around the globe are pouring their support to a petition started online seeking to front a proposal to L.A. councilman to change the Crenshaw and Slauson intersect to Nipsey Hussle way.
The South Los Angeles community appears to be in agreement that this is the best way to go as they have come out in numbers to sign the petition online.
The petition on Change.org was started on Tuesday afternoon, and is asking for L.A. Councilman Marqueece Harris-Dawson to rename the intersection of Crenshaw and Slauson to Nipsey Hussle Way, “in honor of a community icon.”
The corner is the location of Nipsey’s store and where he was gunned down.
Harris-Dawson actually spoke at the news conference Tuesday morning and shared stories of Nipsey’s positive influence in the community.
The petition has already grown over to 208,000 signatures (and climbing) but will still need to be officially presented to the proper government channels in the City of Los Angeles before any action is considered.
As we reported, Nipsey was praised by local officials for his advocacy and work with the inner city youth.
