Christine Brown’s aunt stated that her niece was “never happy in the impossible marriage” with Kody. Kristyn Decker weighed in on Christine and Kody’s breakup on Friday’s episode of Reality Life with Kate Casey.
Christine, 49, and Kody, 52, confirmed their split earlier this week, ending months of speculation.
During the podcast, Kristyn expressed her thoughts on the marriage, saying, “I don’t think Christine’s been genuinely happy since day one.”
“I don’t believe in plural marriage for women.”
“It’s almost impossible to have a marriage with a division like that — you know, four women, five, whatever it is, and a lot of children.”
“That is not a collaboration.” It’s not a genuine marriage.”
She went on to say that she “felt bad” for her niece and Kody’s other three wives “from day one,” and that “it still breaks my heart.” “I don’t believe any women are truly happy in that.”
Kristyn is no stranger to the world of polygamy, having previously left a polygamist relationship.
She expressed her best wishes for Christine as she moves on from Kody, saying, “I just hope she’s [moved on], that she’s really out there and going to find genuine happiness, the kind that I have and wish everyone had.”
“There are a lot of people who have left who have found a lot of joy and happiness outside of that.”
Kristyn isn’t Christine’s only family member who has spoken out since the divorce.
Christine’s cousin Anna LeBaron, who escaped polygamy at the age of 13, revealed the hardship the Sister Wives are experiencing as a result of the separation.
“The transition away from any kind of relationship, polygamous or monogamous, is always a difficult decision to make,” Anna exclusively told The Sun.
I hope she is doing well and will be able to recover from this difficult time in her life.
“I hope she is receiving the care and support she requires.”
This is a difficult decision to make after 25 years of marriage. There will be tears and sadness. My wish for her is that she will find healing and live a life that brings her joy, peace, and happiness.
“It’s brave and courageous. I am proud of her for taking the steps necessary to become the person she aspires to be in this life.”
Christine announced the split on Instagram on Tuesday, writing, “After more than 25 years together, Kody and I have grown apart, and I have made the difficult decision to leave.”
“As we parent our beautiful children and support our wonderful family, we will continue to be a strong presence in each other’s lives.”
“At this time, we ask for your patience and kindness as we navigate this stage in our family’s life.” Christine Brown, with love.”
Shortly after, Kody issued his own statement, saying, “Christine’s decision to leave comes with a great deal of sadness.”
“We spent many years together, and I have a great deal of respect and admiration for her.”
“Although we are taking different paths, we will always be committed parents.”
They spiritually married in 1994 and have five children: Mykelti, Aspyn, Ysabel, Paedon, Gwendlyn, and Truley.
Christine joined his first wife Meri, 50, and second wife Janelle, 52, in the family, and fourth spouse Robyn, 43, joined in 2010.
