‘Today’ Contributor Jill Martin Engaged To Ex-Fiancé Erik Brooks

In a twist of fate, Jill Martin has become engaged once more to her ex-fiance, Erik Brooks!

The “Today” show contributor reunited with her old lover, and the couple is now ready to tie the knot after Brooks proposed to her on Harbor Island in the Bahamas.

The pair had attempted to work through their long-distance relationship when the epidemic struck last year, but they were unable to.

“Deciding to stop our engagement last year was heart-breaking,” Martin, 45, said in an essay for Today.com.

“It was a difficult decision to make.” In the past, I’ve said things like, “It practically takes my breath away to imagine my existence without him.”

“However, our relationship couldn’t continue in the same manner it was.” she continued. We needed to take a breather. There was a long delay. “And we took advantage of the situation.”

Despite the fact that Martin earlier stated that she was back on the dating market, she has now disclosed that it was she who contacted Brooks, 55, after an 18-month hiatus to rekindle their relationship.

“When I contacted Erik on that odd Thursday a few months ago, he was really taken aback by the fact that I had called him.”

“After a few days of processing that first chat, we were able to begin learning more about one other again. We wanted to be certain that things would be different this time. Better.”

Martin went on to say that she enjoys not only the way Brooks feels about her, but also “how I feel about myself when I am with him.”

“When we’re together, I’m the most authentic version of me,” she said.

“I have a strong sense of self-assurance, intelligence, and happiness. We have a great time laughing all the time. While we still argue from time to time, we try to keep the drama to a minimum. Misunderstandings that used to take a weekend are now resolved within minutes.”

Brooks, who works in private equity and has three children from a previous marriage, proposed to Martin for the first time in the Hamptons in May 2019. Brooks and Martin have been together since 2015.

We went all out for our first engagement, with flowers, a tent, photographs, our family, cameras, and a tonne of lights.

Exceedingly large and spectacular in nature This time, though, things were different.

“It was lovely, yet it was unusual,” Martin reflected on the experience.

“We were on a tiny fishing boat in the Bahamas when the incident occurred. When Erik proposed, it was just the two of us, and we were fortunate in that a couple on another adjacent boat informed us afterwards that they had taken a photograph of us when Erik was proposing.”

“Thank heavens they happened to be at that area in the middle of the ocean — the photograph that was taken later stole my breath away.”

She went on to say “Erik said nothing more than, ‘I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you.’ We were also engaged at the time. Again.”

Martin further stated that everyone’s experience is “individual and unique.” “It took me 45 years to finally locate my fairy tale,” she continued.

She explains that it wasn’t until she understood she could stand on her own that she recognised she and Erik were ready to reunite. It was time to write the reality version of my fairy story, which I had completed.

Martin will be back on the “Today” show on Monday morning, as previously announced. Additionally, her new special, “Holiday Steals & Deals with Jill Martin,” will premiere on Peacock on Nov. 22 at 8 a.m. ET and will run for one hour.
