Truck Driver Charged After Man Dies On Sydney Street

A motorist has been charged in connection with the death of a man who was reportedly struck by a truck on Sydney’s North Shore.

Emergency services were sent to Fullers Road at the junction of Park Avenue in Chatswood at 4.30 p.m. yesterday after reports of a man being struck by a vehicle surfaced on social media.

According to police, a white Mitsubishi rigid truck, driven by a 32-year-old male, and a silver Ford Focus, driven by a 57-year-old man, drove right into Fullers Road, where both drivers “got embroiled in an altercation,” according to the police report.

It is said that the driver of the Ford left his car and approached the truck, holding onto the front passenger side of the vehicle as it tried to drive away from the scene of the accident.

The guy, according to police, lost his grasp and was hit by the vehicle. The guy was treated by paramedics from NSW Ambulance, however he died on the spot.

After being transferred to the Royal North Shore Hospital for obligatory testing, the truck driver was found to be unhurt.

According to police, he was discharged from hospital and sent to Chatswood Police Station, where he was charged with careless driving resulting in death as well as driving recklessly, fiercely, or at a high rate of speed or in a hazardous way.

The guy from North Strathfield was denied bail and is scheduled to appear in Hornsby Local Court on Monday.
